2024 Class Schedule
BEGINNERS 1
Mon & Wed | 4:15 – 5:00 PM
Students 10 years old and under may join this class. This class helps students with basic Karate techniques (Kihon). We encourage students to support their friends in class and help one another. The class hits foam bags, paddles, breaking boards and even spar!
BEGINNERS 2
Mon & Wed | 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Students here may have come from Beginners 1 after they have ranked up a few times, and are up to 12 years old. Students here explore finer details of their techniques and improve their athleticism in various ways. They learn up to 5 Kata in this class and can rank up to 5 times.
INTERMEDIATE 1
Mon & Wed | 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Intermediate 1 Class is similar to Beginners 2 but may move to this class if they are reaching 3 to 4 belts up and are older, or have been in the Dojo for a while. The course moves quicker than the Beginners class.
INTERMEDIATE 2
Tue & Thurs | 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Intermediate 2 (formerly Beginners 3) is a special class where teenagers, and some of their siblings, learn together. It is a group taught in a much more mature tone with higher expectations. Students study how to use their body correctly while executing techniques to the finest detail.
ADVANCED 1
Mon & Wed | 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Students here are ones who’ve learned the first 5 Kata and are still under 12 years old. It is an invitation only class where we introduce much more application, self-defense, advanced Kata, advanced sparring techniques and more.
ADVANCED 2
Tue & Thurs | 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Our highest level class as of now. The hardest Kata are taught in this invitation only class. The sparring combinations require adequate understanding of kinesthetic movement. We ask students to come to this class very well prepared and ready to learn in this high paced, information packed class.
ADULT
Tue & Thurs | 7:00 – 8:00 PM
This class is for those 18 and over looking for a mature and college-like class experience. We study the Japanese terminology of our techniques. We also study strategy, Karate concept and technical breakdowns together.
The men and women stay on each side of the mats for most partner drills and work things out in a very stress-free learning experience. Our adult team likes to hang out and eat after class for fun as well!
PRIVATE LESSONS
By Appt
Private lessons are encouraged only when students are really in need of extra training, missing out of class for long periods of time or would like extra attention for tournaments. Private lessons are by appointment and costs vary between instructors.
Classes FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions:
What is your minimum age requirement?
5 is a good age to start. Under 5 is okay as well, so long as they have decent comprehension skills. We’ve accept students as young as 3 before. We want to work together with you to help your child or children grow!
What are your operating hours?
We are open Monday to Thursday. If you’d like to inquire about classes, please come before, during or after class times posted on this page. Wave down the teacher or ask a nearby parent for help. Parents in our school love to help each other!
What is sparring like?
We all fight with light touch to the body and no face contact for juniors (unless an upcoming competition rules state otherwise, then certain students train for face touch).
We strongly believe that students should not reduce athletic speed to compensate for control. If you need to see a demonstration of what control with speed looks like, ask Charlie Sensei any time. The physical execution may clear up any worries you may have about control.
Otherwise, advanced or adult students may slowly introduce more impact to the body or light face contact within reason and consent.
What are your Kata & Sparring rules?
We follow WKF rules so students can compete in a wide range of competitions.
What tournaments do beginners / advanced go to?
As a student of RKD, Sensei does not restrict you to any tournaments but you can always ask him for recommendations.
Local tournaments, US Open, USANKF, WKF and WUKF sanctioned events are encouraged.
We are a no pressure school. Our best students who won international divisions have all asked to go out of their own interest.
Can I watch my kids during class?
YES. Please stay for the class, watch how we teach and enjoy seeing your children grow.
Unlike some schools, our school does NOT restrict you from seeing your child in class. It is the right thing to do and the safe thing to do.
