Charlie Nguyen [Sensei]
Hello everyone! My name is Charlie Nguyen. I have been studying Karate since 2005. My first style was Shorin-Ryu. I gradually started to learn Shito-Ryu shortly after my first Sensei’s passing, then sought out Goju-Ryu.
I was very fortunate to be able to learn with incredible champions and coaches around the world. One of my best experiences in Karate would have to be visiting the Vietnam National Team in 2013 for a couple months. I continue to teach what I learned with my coach and their team. Our school is still affiliated with headquarters in Hanoi, Vietnam to this day.
I was competing in many tournaments between 2008-2014. My two best awards had to be the IKA World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia (1st and 3rd) and Ozawa Cup in Las Vegas, NV (1st).
Ozawa Cup was a competition I felt was incredibly intense all the time. The best of the best go to this competition in hopes to win. We would perform while being overseen by famous Karate-ka Fumio Demura and other legends. In 2011, winning any division 18-34 was an incredible success and persevering through that training period was insightful. In the last few years, I’ve had students win gold in Ozawa Cup and Nikkei Games. I aspire to create more champions in the Dojo.
